The Bryan school district could be adding another new administrator.
On Bryan ISD’s employment page is information about a chief of staff who will report to new superintendent Christie Whitbeck.
According to the job posting, this person will “serve as a key strategic advisor and problem-solver for the Superintendent.”
It is a position that has not been approved by the school board. A district spokesman says the board was notified of the intent to create the position. And the spokesman assumes the board will most likely be voting on the hire.
WTAW News has asked school board president Trey Moore for comment.
Dr. Whitbeck is seeking someone with experience as a principal with a master’s degree or a bachelor’s with six to eight years related experience and at least five years of that at an executive level.
The one and a half page job description with 13 bullet points starts with assisting Whitbeck in the direction and coordination of superintendent goals and district policies. Next, the chief of staff will represent Whitbeck when dealing with city, county, state, and federal representatives.
This person will join the superintendent’s cabinet, or senior leadership team.
The minimum salary for the position is $104,082 dollars a year.
The job posting was made two days after the school board approved pay raises for 70 campus principals and assistants totaling $317,000 dollars.
