Navasota Man Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charges West Of Bryan

Two horses on land west of Bryan were found last weekend to be severely malnourished.

According to the Brazos County sheriff’s office, a bay colored mare named Pancake was taken to the Texas A&M large animal hospital.

A sorrel colored mare named Fruit Loop who was not able to get up under her own power or with assistance was euthanized.

Deputies arrested 54 year old Lupe Garcia of Navasota for animal cruelty.

According to the arrest report, Garcia said he was taking care of the horses while his wife was out of town but he did not want the horses.

As of Tuesday (1/15/2019), Garcia remained in the Brazos County jail in lieu of a $4,000 dollar bond.
