Natural Gas Line Cut At Site Of New CS C-Store

Construction of a convenience store in College Station ran into inconvenience for many Monday afternoon and evening.

A natural gas line was hit by a construction crew on Rock Prairie Road between the freeway and the Scott & White hospital.

Axcording to the city of College Station, there was an evacuation of a nearby Starbucks and Yoga Pod and the eastbound lanes of Rock Prairie were closed.

According to Chace Murphy at Atmos Energy, a non-Atmos crew was working on the new convenience store there and hit a 6-inch line.

Murphy believed the line was a two-way feed, which meant no customers should have lost natural gas service.

Murphy pointed out this was not a gas leak, but a cut line. The gas escaped only because someone hit the line.
