Former Texas A&M offensive lineman Avery Gennesy will get his second shot at professional football after he was selected Tuesday by the Houston Roughnecks in the inaugural XFL Draft. College Station ISD school board members spent about two hours behind closed doors during Tuesday night’s meeting (July 16) to evaluate the first year performance of superintendent Tim Harkrider. Then the board returned to open session and unanimously gave Harkrider a contract extension of one year. Harkrider, who just completed his first year as CSISD superintendent, remains under contract for three years. The Brazos County health district has announced more mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in more places. Those locations include the College Station zip codes of 77840 and 77845, the Bryan zip codes of 77802 and 77803, the Burleson County zip code of 77836, the Grimes County zip code of 77868, and the Leon County zip code of 75833. Testing for west nile that is coordinated by the health district also includes Robertson, Madison, and Washington counties. Preventative measures to not get bit includes draining standing water, wearing long, loose, and light colored clothing, and using insect repellent containing DEET.
