Museum of the American G.I. Asks CS Council for Financial Assistance

The College Station City Council has been asked for $600,000 dollars to finish a permanent home for the Museum of the American G.I.

Museum founder Brent Mullins the foundation has been poured for their new exhibit building south of Texas Motor Speedway along Highway 6.

Mullins says their fundraising has exceeded $300,000. He told the council if they would contribute twice that amount, the new building would be open by next Memorial Day.

Comments from Brent Mullins.

Mullins asked for money from the city’s share of the hotel occupancy tax, saying their new facility combines with the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, would give out of town visitors a reason to stay overnight in local motels and hotels.

The council took no action and had no comment on the request, which was made during the public comment period of its last meeting.
