Multiple Arsons in Bryan Under Investigation

Bryan police and fire investigators have been looking into several arsons the last couple of months.

The latest was early Sunday morning in north Bryan near Bonham Park at a home on Tennessee Avenue.

Investigator Gerald Burnett of the fire marshal’s office says the occupants inside the home heard noise outside and called 911. The fire had burned itself out by the time firefighters arrived.

Burnett says they’ve been lucky that none of the arsons have resulted in injuries or significant property damage.

Some of the arsons are related to each other and others aren’t.

In some cases, juveniles are suspected. He’s asking parents to tell children of the consequences of setting fires.

Tips can be passed along to the fire department by calling 979-209-5960.

Gerald Burnett visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
