Motorcyclist Dies While Fleeing Deputy

A Houston-area man fleeing on a motorcycle from a Madison County sheriff’s deputy was killed after crashing in Grimes County Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say Anderson Kent Cox of Sugar Land was southbound on Texas 90 about five miles north of Roans Prairie and fleeing from the deputy.

Cox, 26, lost control of the motorcycle and hit an oncoming vehicle head-on. He later died at College Station Medical Center.

None of the occupants in the other vehicle was injured.

It isn’t known why Cox was fleeing from the Madison County deputy. State troopers were preparing to join the pursuit when Cox crashed the motorcycle.
