More Traffic Changes Announced by TxDOT

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is advising motorists of two upcoming traffic changes.

One starts Friday on Highway 47 between Villa Maria and FM 60. There will be lane shifts and lane closures as construction continues on the exit at the new Health Science Center Parkway.

Here are further details from TxDOT: On Friday, October 5, 2012, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will begin a traffic switch on SH 47. The southbound SH 47 inside lane will be closed just south of the FM 1179 (Villa Maria) intersection. Additionally, the southbound exit ramp to FM 60 West (to Snook, TX) will be closed and a detour route will be in place. SH 47 northbound traffic will be routed onto the frontage road via the newly constructed exit ramp. The southernmost crossover will closed for SH 47 northbound traffic wanting to go south. Left turns will be restricted at this location. These closures are expected to be in place for the next few months allowing the contractor to construct concrete pavement for the inside lanes of the SH 47 frontage roads at the proposed intersection with the HSC Parkway. It will also allow the contractor to complete construction of the southbound frontage road to the intersection of FM 60. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2013.

And if you drive the Rudder Freeway, you’ve already seen message boards at the Southwest Parkway exit about various lane closures in College Station beginning Monday.

Here are the details from TxDOT:  The lane closures will be from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and will progress in the following sequence:

Monday – SH 6 Southbound Right Lane

Tuesday – SH 6 Southbound Left Lane

Wednesday – SH 6 Northbound Left Lane

Thursday – SH 6 Northbound Right Lane

These lane closures will allow the contractor to install signal conduit across the Southwest Parkway Bridge for the new signals to be installed at the frontage road intersections. This is a project that will continue through the winter of 2013.
