Friday update:
More details are known about Thursday afternoon’s chase involving a pickup truck that was pursued by multiple patrol vehicles ended when the truck was involved in a fourth crash.
According to the DPS arrest report, 26 year old Jacinto Perez and 17 year old Destiny Charles…both of Bryan…were arrested for evading arrest. Perez drove and Charles told Perez not to stop.
Perez, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries from the fourth crash, was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failing to stop and render aid or give information.
Two people in one of the vehicles struck by the pickup in the last collision at Villa Maria and Carter Creek were treated for minor injuries.
The trooper who arrested Perez also witnessed the three other wrecks.
One was in the parking lot of the Varisco-Court gin company on FM 50 north of Highway 21, where the pickup struck the side of a semi with enough force a door fell off the semi and Perez nearly ran over a passenger who was getting out of the semi.
Another collision was on FM 2818 near F & B Road, and the third was on Villa Maria.
The pursuit began after Bryan police responded to a shoplifting call at Wal-Mart.
Perez was out of prison early, according to online court records, after he was sentenced in June 2016 to five years for evading arrest.
7:30 p.m. update:
Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a pursuit Thursday afternoon that began in west Bryan.
The chase went into Burleson County, then went through College Station, then returned to Bryan and ended in a crash at Villa Maria and Carter Creek.
Bryan police reported the chase with a pickup truck began as officers attempted to stop a shoplifter in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at Villa Maria and Harvey Mitchell.
DPS Sgt. Jimmy Morgan says a trooper found the truck near the Brazos County side of Highway 21 and FM 50.
The driver of the truck eluded the trooper for about 25 minutes before the truck was found again on FM 50 in Burleson County.
The pursuit then went south on 50 to FM 60 into College Station, and continued back into Bryan.
Morgan says the truck collided with two private vehicles at Villa Maria and Carter Creek.
The driver of the truck had potentially serious injuries and a passenger in the truck had minor injuries.
Morgan says the driver of one of the other vehicles in the crash was not injured, and the driver and passenger in the other vehicle had minor injuries.
Morgan says DPS will be conducting a joint investigation with the other agencies involved in the chase to determine what charges the pickup driver will face.
The chase began shortly after 4 p.m. and ended just before 6 p.m.

A WTAW listener reports 30 law enforcement officers gathered at Villa Maria and Carter Creek Thursday night, at the end of a pursuit of a pickup truck.
According to the listener, the truck went airborne then hit a car.
The driver and a passenger in the car were shaken up, but escaped serious injury.
The driver of the pickup was seen handcuffed on the ground.
No information about what led to the chase and crash has been released.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
