GROESBECK, Texas (AP) _ A Central Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2011 fatal shooting of his father at the home they shared.
A jury in Groesbeck convicted 28-year-old Chad Michael Musgrove of Mexia of capital murder in the slaying of 54-year-old William Doyle Patterson.
KWTX-TV reports a woman who also lived at the home told investigators she was abducted by Musgrove after the shooting. The woman says she was forced to accompany Musgrove to Montgomery County before she managed to flee and contacted officers.
Mexia police then discovered Patterson’s body. Musgrove was later captured at a residence in Panorama Village, about 40 miles north of Houston.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty so Musgrove received an automatic life prison term after being convicted last week.
