Metroplex Man Gets Life for Starving Infant Son

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to life behind bars for nearly starving his infant son to death in 2007.

Michael Foster had been convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison in 2009 for nearly starving his son, Euphrates, to death in 2007. However, an appeals court overturned that conviction after Foster argued that he was denied the right to defend himself.

State District Judge George Gallagher sentenced Foster on Wednesday after a Tarrant County jury convicted him of causing serious bodily injury to a child — this time after he represented himself. A statement from the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office says Foster must serve 30 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
