Masek Named Hammer Strength All-American

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M softball senior Alex Masek was named a 2015 Hammer Strength All-American, announced recently by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).

Masek was named to the elite list of athletes nationwide after being nominated for her efforts in the weight room by Texas A&M Strength and Conditioning Coach Raychelle Ellsworth. The Hammer Strength All-American awards were created to recognize the most outstanding college athletes who exemplify the best of what it takes, on and off the field, to become an elite athlete. To be considered for this award, athletes are characterized by intensity, consistency of purpose, achievement, and teamwork.

“Hammer Strength continues to help college athletes across the country refine their performance and realize their true athletic potential,” said Chris Clawson, Life Fitness president. “With this award, we’re honoring the student athletes whose dedication to self-improvement in the weight room reaches beyond their sport, to their academics and their community.”

The Giddings, Texas, native made 26 starts in 44 appearances in her junior season. Scoring 13 runs on 20 hits, the speedy outfielder added seven stolen bases to her six walks and .368 on base percentage.

Masek and the Texas A&M softball team will open fall ball play in October, with the full schedule to be release in the near future. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to 12thMan.com/softball and follow @AggieSoftball on Twitter.
