Update:
Bryan police has announced an arrest in the death of a local woman who died after being struck by a vehicle two weeks ago.
Arrested on a charge of causing an accident involving death is 47 year old Leroy Conerway Jr. of Bryan.
According to the arrest report, Conerway told police he did not check what he struck before sunrise on January 14th while driving his mother’s pickup on Highway 21 east of the freeway in the Castle Heights neighborhood.
Conerway is accused of leaving the scene without rendering aid to the victim, Geneva Serna of Bryan.
According to the arrest report, investigators found the truck they believe matches blue paint and headlight fragments where Serna was struck.
Conerway told detectives he knew why they wanted to talk with him, after seeing Facebook posts about a woman who was struck and killed.
Conerway also said he had drank three or four shots of liquor and three or four beers prior to hitting Serna.
Conerway is out of jail after posting a $30,000 dollar bond.

On January 14, 2017 at 6:30am Officers responded to the 4900 block of State Hwy 21 for a call of someone lying in the ditch. Officers located the deceased body of Geneva Serna who was pronounced deceased on the scene. The investigation led to the arrest of Leroy Conerway Jr. for Accident Involving Death which is second degree felony. Conerway turned himself in last week and bonded out the same day.
It was determined that Conerway was traveling westbound in the 4900 block of State Hwy 21 when he struck Serna with his vehicle. Conerway left the scene without rendering aid to the victim.
