Lucky Number “7” Comes Through Twice in Win Over Strykers

Bryan-College Station, TX (August 7, 2013) –

With five straight opening hits, including a home run from Cody Lovejoy, and a number of wild pitches from the Strykers, the Brazos Valley Bombers set the tempo high at the top of the first inning with seven runs on Wednesday night at The Woodlands.  After several scoreless innings, the Bombers once again put up seven runs at the top of the seventh.

The Strykers got on the board at the bottom of the second inning with an RBI single from Robert Heep and scored another two runs at the bottom of the third scored by Drake Roberts and Ricardo Sanchez.  After several quiet innings, the Bombers responded with a huge seventh inning led off by a couple of walks from Strykers’ pitcher Kael Jones.  Bomber’s Jake Hanson then brought in Graham McIntire with an RBI single.  The Bombers then scored another six runs from errors and hits given up by the Strykers.

The Bombers finished the night off with two runs in the eighth inning, courtesy of a home run hit by Horacio Correa III near the end of the inning, and three more runs scored in the ninth inning to lock up the victory 20-3.

The Bombers used four pitchers with Logan Burch pitching the first five innings giving up only five hits and all three runs scored by the Strykers.  Jason Freeman subbed in for Burch in the sixth inning pitching only two innings and giving up one hit while Brett Kauten pitched the eighth inning giving up one hit.  Nick Johnson finished the night off for the Bombers giving up no hits in the ninth.  Kael Jones pitched 7 innings for the Strykers giving up 16 hits before being replaced by Ricardo Sanchez in the eighth inning to finish the night off for the Strykers.
