COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) _ An Aggie ring that spent a couple of years being cycled through a wastewater treatment plant has been returned to its owner thanks to a sharp-eyed plant employee.
Megan Marie Hubbard’s ring fell into a toilet two weeks before her 2011 graduation from Texas A&M. Her efforts to retrieve it were washed away by the toilet’s automatic flush.
The Eagle newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/K9Th3j ) the ring reappeared earlier this month when Ron Waters, a plant technician for College Station, saw it shine against a debris slab he was washing down.
He used Texas A&M records to contact Hubbard, asking if she’d lost something prior to graduating. After a pause, she exclaimed, “You found my ring!”
The ring was cleaned, sanitized and mailed to Hubbard.
