Local Reaction To State Government Leaders Proposal To Further Cap Local Property Taxes

State lawmakers will consider property tax reform bills that would cap future revenue increases by the cities and school districts in Bryan and College Station and Brazos County.

A joint announcement by the governor, lieutenant governor, and the house speaker about senate bill 2 and house bill 2 would require taxing entities with revenue over $15 million dollars to require an election if local revenue increases by more than two and a half percent plus growth over the previous year.
