A fire Friday morning damaged a Bryan business and backed up traffic along Villa Maria between Texas and South College. Fire chief Randy McGregor says the cause of the fire at B-C-S Trophies at Villa Maria and Cavitt is under investigation. No one was injured.
College Station firefighters responded to a fire Thursday night at the Flats on 12 apartments across Harvey Mitchell Parkway from the post office. A fire on the stove was knocked down by the resident by throwing flour on the flames. Firefighters finished putting out the fire and checked adjacent apartments for fire extension and smoke. There were no injuries, but firefighter/EMT’s helped calm the residents who were very shaken by what happen. While the residents were not displaced, they spent the night with friends.
Wednesday morning, CSFD responded to what was reported as a structure fire, but turned out to be construction dust mistaken for smoke. Firefighters from station six at University and Tarrow checked out what happened a mile east of the station at the Knowledge Based Systems building. Other units on their way returned to their stations.
Wednesday night, CSFD responded to a structure fire call at Campus Crossings apartments on Marion Pugh. An was triggered by smoke generated from a greasy pan with the burner still on.
CSFD also responded to a vehicle fire on Wednesday, and responded Tuesday and Wednesday to a total of six major crashes.
