Local Developer Asks Bryan Council And Brazos County Commission For Financial Assistance

Three months ago, Brazos County commissioners were introduced to plans for a $250 million dollar master planned community bordering West Villa Maria and The Traditions.

On Tuesday, developer Ram Galindo asked county commissioners were asked to join the city of Bryan in diverting future property taxes that would be generated by Innovation Towers to help pay for infrastructure.

County Judge Duane Peters listed concerns that included the county being more dependent on property taxes compared with the city.

County commissioner Steve Aldrich hopes they will look deeper into the proposal.

Galindo told commissioners infrastructure costs would be under $1 million dollars.

Bryan city manager Kean Register told WTAW News if the county participates, city staff recommends contributing $700,000 once the quarter billion dollar development is on the tax rolls.

Three months ago, Galindo told commissioners groundbreaking is planned for late spring next year on the first of the five 12 story buildings, which will be a condominium. A request Galindo made in June to county commissioners to widen West Villa Maria to Highway 47 was not brought up during Tuesday’s presentation.
