A local businessman is this year’s Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) president.
Tap Bentz is a managing partner for the College Station Outback Steakhouse restaurant. He was named President of the TRA on July 1, 2016 and will serve a one year term.
“The thing that I want to get accomplished this year, is I want TRA to position themselves for the next five, six, ten years to better serve the membership,” said Bentz.
TRA’s mission is “to serve as the advocate in Texas and indispensable resource for the hospitality and food service industry” and has been helping both chain and independent restaurants since 1937.
Bentz said in order to increase membership, technology is key.
“Ultimately and probably 99% of our business is done on that phone now whether it’s phone calls, emails, or looking up something, so we are just really trying to get caught up technologically,” said Bentz.
Bentz will spend the year overseeing the TRA staff in Austin and travelling across the state speaking to the local chapters.
