There is a new chief executive at the Brazos Transit District (BTD), the public transportation agency serving Brazos and 19 other counties.

Being promoted was deputy CEO and general manager Wendy Weedon.

She took over in September for John McBeth, who retired in August after 43 years.

The transition was announced only on BTD’s Facebook page.

Additionally, the seven member board that governs BTD is chaired by Brazos County Judge Duane Peters, who has not attended county commission business meetings since June due to undisclosed medical issues. Weedon says “We have stayed in contact with Judge Peters when necessary and he has been kept up to date on all Board and BTD activities during his time of healing.” Vice chair Roy Boldon of Nacogdoches is currently filling in as BTD chair.
