ATHENS, Ga. – Texas A&M Softball used a three-run sixth inning to defeat No. 12 Georgia, 5-3, Sunday at Jack Turner Stadium.

Trailing 3-2 heading into the sixth, the Aggies (25-15, 3-9 SEC) loaded the bases with nobody out and tied the game on a Kayla Garica RBI. Morgan Smith followed suit with a two-RBI double to left center to give the Maroon and White the lead.

Georgia (30-11, 5-7 SEC) jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage in the first as Alyssa DiCarlo hit a two-run homer to center. The Aggies responded in the top of the second with two runs on a Morgan Smith single and an error.

The Bulldogs regained the lead in the bottom half of the second, scoring an unearned run on a Justice Milz single.

Aggie starter Kendall Potts was masterful in the circle for the second-consecutive game to move to 10-6 on the year. The junior scattered just five hits and allowed one earned run with a strikeout in her second complete game of the weekend.

Offensively, the Aggies were led by three freshmen, Morgan SmithKayla Garcia and Haley Lee, who each recorded two hits. Smith drove in three as Garcia plated one and walked twice to reach base in all four at bats.

WHAT THEY SAID
Head Coach Jo Evans

On Kendall Potts’ performance…
“She was terrific out there. She was great yesterday too. This is a potent offense that hits a lot of home runs. She comes out in back-to-back games and gives up one earned run in 13 innings. She was poised out there and got out. She played great defense and made a couple of plays. Her attitude is always positive.”

On the bottom of the order providing offense…
“The bottom of our order did such a great job. It’s so fun seeing our youngsters go out there and get clutch hits. I’m just really pleased with our poise this game. Yesterday I challenged our team, and our kids answered the call.”
