Bryan City Council Pursuing State Funding For A Shared Use Path Along Highway 47

The Bryan city council agrees to submit an application to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to pay about one-fourth the cost of a proposed shared use path along Highway 47 between Villa Maria and the RELLIS campus. If TxDOT selects the project, the city would have three years to complete the four mile, $10 million dollar path. The council without discussion at its last meeting (June 4) unanimously approved committing $2.5 million dollars in bond financing and pay for any cost overruns. If approved by TxDOT, this would connect to an existing shared use path along Villa Maria from Highway 47 to FM 2818. Brazos County Commission Continues Negotiations With Companies Over Issues In Expanding The Juvenile Detention Center

Brazos County commissioners continue to negotiate with two companies over issues in the expansion of the juvenile detention center that began in 2018. Formal action was taken to extend what is called a “tolling agreement”, which county judge Duane Peters and the commission’s general counsel Bruce Erratt says allow talks to continue without any of the parties filing a lawsuit. Negotiations over mechanical, plumbing, and electrical issues began in December 2023. Erratt said what began as a three page list of issues is now about half of one page. The agreement to continue was extended to the end of this year. Erratt pointed out this has nothing to do with toll roads.
