KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) _ Jury selection is under way in a Central Texas custody case for the children of an ex-Baptist minister convicted of drugging and smothering his wife while their two daughters slept.
Matt Baker is serving a 65-year sentence after being convicted of murder in the 2006 death of Kari Baker.
Jury selection began Tuesday in Kerrville as the victim’s parents, Jim and Linda Dulin, seek sole custody from Matt Baker’s parents.
Fifteen-year-old Kensi and her 10-year-old sister, Grace, have lived with Oscar and Barbara Baker since their father’s January 2010 sentencing.
The Waco Tribune-Herald reports a court-appointed adviser, who has conducted a study of both homes, has recommended that the maternal grandparents be awarded custody.
