A Brazos County District Court jury returned a guilty verdict, then a Bryan man decided on an agreement with prosecutors about punishment.

58 year old Daniel Stewart was convicted this month of using a glass beer bottle to leave a half-inch cut on the right side of his girlfriend’s face, from her ear to her mouth.

Due to Stewart’s criminal history, the jury or the judge could have imposed a sentence between 25 years and life.

Instead, Stewart was given 33 years in a deal that in part waives his right to appeal the conviction.
