Jordan Jones was named SEC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 2. Jones posted the third triple double in A&M history against Arkansas and posted the fifth-most assists in a single game by an Aggie in the game at Florida.
Jones had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Arkansas, joining Toccara Williams and Danielle Adams as A&M players to post a triple double. This was only the second triple double in the SEC since 2010.
At Florida, Jones helped lead the Aggies to a season-high 83 points, dishing out a career-high 14 assists, the fifth-most in a single game in A&M history, and most in an SEC game.
Over the course of the week, she set career highs in points (Arkansas), rebounds (Arkansas) and assists (Florida), while being responsible for 70 of the Aggies points via assist or score. She had 24 total assists, moving from eighth to fourth on A&M’s season assist chart and becoming only the third A&M player with a 200+ assists season, joining Lisa Branch, who accomplished the feat three times, and Sydney Colson.
Jones needs only 26 assists to tie Lisa Branch’s Texas A&M single season record.
The Aggies take the floor again in the quarterfinal of the SEC Tournament against Auburn, Arkansas or Ole Miss. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on Friday, March 7 in Duluth, Ga.
