The nickname Johnny Football, referring to Texas A&M University quarterback Johnny Manziel, has become so popular that the university has sent eight cease and desist orders to stop producing merchandise.

Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jason Cook says the Manziel family has also hired lawyers.

Cook says NCAA rules prohibit A&M and private parties from profiting from a player’s likeness or exact image.

Just in time for the final two home football games, Cook says an authentic Manziel number two jersey will be available for sale next week.

Cook says there’s been a double digit growth in merchandise revenue in the last three months.
