A Brenham man is in the Brazos County Jail accused of trying to enter Jane Long Middle School in Bryan Wednesday morning.

Officer Jon Agnew says 29 year old Earl Daniels took a school radio from an assistant principal and started talking, which was heard by a school resource officer.

Witnesses also reported Daniels tried to open the locked doors to the school, pull eyeglasses off the face of the assistant principal, took a cell phone belonging to a maintenance person, and attempted to get inside a van belonging to the district.

Agnew says Daniels was transported to St. Joseph’s for a medical examination, released, then taken to jail on charges of criminal trespassing, theft from a person, attempted criminal trespassing, and public intoxication.

Daniels remained in jail Thursday afternoon in lieu of bonds totaling $20,775.

Bryan ISD Communications Director Sandy Farris says procedures were followed to prevent the unauthorized person from entering. Farris added all students were safe and the school’s resource officer handled the incident well.
