A Bryan man arrested last Saturday (January 18) for DWI is awaiting trials from two DWI arrests in 2021, felony burglary in 2020, three marijuana possession cases in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and evading arrest and evidence tampering in 2019. The newest charge, according to the Bryan police arrest report, is that officers responded to a citizen’s report of a pickup that was stopped at Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Shiloh Avenue with the driver either asleep or intoxicated. 24 year old Edgar Saenz Jr., who was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, is out of jail after posting a $2,000 dollar bond. A Bryan man who was released from prison last Friday morning (January 17) spends part of the night in the Brazos County jail. 61 year old Frederick Kelley was arrested for DWI with two prior convictions. This is after Bryan police responded to a report of a car in a ditch and Kelley being taken to the hospital. The BPD arrest report says Kelley told an officer had been smoking cigarettes that belonged to other people and felt like he was under the influence of PCP. Kelley was released from jail after posting an $8,000 dollar bond. The arrest report did give the reason that Kelley was in prison. A Bryan woman is arrested for attempting to bribe a College Station police officer to get out of a DWI charge. The CSPD arrest report says on Monday night (January 20) an officer responded to a wrong way driver on Southwest Parkway whose SUV became disabled after hitting a curb and blowing out a tire. After failing field sobriety tests, the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation and a blood alcohol sample. It was in the hospital where the arrest report says the woman offered the officer $300 dollars. The arrest report also says the officer found in the SUV, seven shot-sized bottles of vodka and four prescription medicines which are not supposed to be mixed with alcohol. 30 year old Dakota Woodall remained in jail as of January 20 in lieu of bonds totaling $12,000 dollars.
A Navasota man in the Brazos County jail since October of 2023 on a parole violation is found guilty of stabbing a man in a College Station bar. The district court jury that convicted 35 year old Angel Llamas then sentenced him to 34 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. College Station police reported at the time of the March 2023 stabbing, that the victim showed up at a Bryan hospital for treatment of multiple wounds.
All Bryan ISD schools and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. All Bryan ISD extracurricular activities will be canceled. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 23rd, following our regular schedule. All College Station ISD schools will be closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Normal operations resume Thursday, January 23. Twin City Mission has postponed the ribbon cutting and open house of their new warehouse, scheduled for Wednesday January 22nd, until a date and time yet to be determined. The city of College Station has rescheduled the Northgate Small Area Plan kickoff meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, to Tuesday, January 28 from 6-8 p.m. at city hall. Brazos Transit District (BTD) will delay service for all areas until 10 AM on Tuesday, January 21st. Brazos County offices are closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025 for non-essential personnel, and this week’s county commission meeting will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. College Station ISD school board meetings originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025 have been moved to Friday, January 24th with the workshop starting at noon and the regular meeting at 1 p.m. College Station solid waste collections will be pushed back one day (Tuesday’s routes on Wednesday, etc.) through Saturday. Brazos Valley Recycling will push back its collections one day through Saturday. The City of College Station’s Employee Health Clinic at 1700 University Drive East will delay its opening until 1 p.m. on Tuesday. City of College Station offices are closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Wellborn Special Utility District office will be closed Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Texas A&M announces Bryan/College Station classes are cancelled and non-essential campus operations are suspended January 21st. Bryan ISD has cancelled classes on Tuesday, January 21. BISD also announced the district will not be required to make up this missed day. BISD classes for Monday, January 20, were already cancelled due the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. College Station ISD has cancelled classes on Tuesday, January 21. CSISD classes for Monday, January 20, were already cancelled due the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. All Blinn College District campuses will be closed and classes are canceled for Tuesday, January 21st. The Becky Gates Children’s Center and Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center will be closed on Tuesday, January 21. The George Bush Presidential Library & Museum will be closed January 21. All Prairie View A&M University campuses will be closed on Tuesday, January 21. The Wellborn SUD Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st has been cancelled and re-scheduled for Tuesday, January 28th @ 6:00 pm at the Wellborn SUD office. United Way of the Brazos Valley announces a warming center will be available from Sunday (January 19) at 5 p.m. through Thursday (January 23) at 9 a.m. The center is located in Bryan at the Elks Lodge, which is on Mobile Avenue behind Triangle Storage. Volunteers are also being recruited to assist at the warming center.
