Incumbents For Three Local City Council Positions All Have Opponents

Tuesday, July 23, 2019 candidate filing activity:

Two Bryan city council openings in this November’s election are now contested races. Former councilman Rafael Pena has filed for the single member district two position against incumbent Prentiss Madison. The current councilman in single member district one, Reuben Marin, is opposed by Sedrick Gilbert.

Another filing Tuesday is Karl Mooney seeking re-election as College Station mayor. He has no opponent.

The filing deadline is August 19th.

Monday, July 22, 2019 candidate filing activity:

There will be three new members and new leadership on the College Station school board following this November’s election.

On the first day of candidate filing, College Station school board president Jeff Harris and members Quinn Williams and Michael Wesson announced they were not seeking re-election. Harris will be completing nine years and Wesson and Williams their sixth year.

No one has filed for Harris’s seat. Former board member Kimberly McAdams has filed for Williams’s seat and Joshua Benn has filed for Wesson’s seat.

On the first day of filing for the Bryan city council, all three incumbents are running for re-election. They are mayor Andrew Nelson and councilmen Reuben Marin and Prentiss Madison. Marin has an opponent for the single member district one seat, Sedrick Gilbert.

There is also a contested race for College Station city council. Incumbent Jerome Rektorik has filed for re-election. He is opposed by former councilman John Crompton, who served between 2007 and 2011.

The filing period continues through August 19.
