It’s been 13 months since the projected start of a new food and paper processing plant between Bryan and Benchley.
The President of Gunler Foods and Paper announced during groundbreaking the facility was supposed to generate as many as 250 jobs with an $8 million dollar annual payroll.
But there’s no evidence of any activity and officials of the Mexican-based corporation aren’t talking.
The Gunler Food division called Nature Nutrition promoted its Bryan plant as recently as March 15th.
There’s also been references to Bryan on Nature Nutrition’s Twitter account.
And last fall, Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski saw the production of vegetable oil.
Now, Bienski is among city and county officials are waiting for the Research Valley Partnership to issue an update in May.
That could determine whether or not the city council decides to annex the land.

Brazos County Judge Duane Peters says the RVP report will determine whether or not the county commission proceeds with awarding tax abatements.

Attempts for an update from Gunler President Erick Garcia or anyone else at Nature Nutrition through their Twitter and Facebook accounts have not been successful. And the contact page at Nature Nutrition’s website has been suspended.
