DALLAS (AP) _ U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is planning a race against Gov. Rick Perry for the Republican nomination for Texas governor, has been visiting troops in Iraq.
Hutchison spokesman Jeff Sadosky says Hutchison flew into Baghdad today, visited with Texas National Guard members and spoke with U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill.
She also talked to the current commander of the forces in Iraq, Gen. Raymond Odierno.
Her visit to Baghdad comes a day after the first step of a pullback of troops in Iraq.
This as U.S. forces turn responsibility for security in the cities over to the Iraqi military. Hutchison said that one of the reasons for the trip was to talk to Odierno more about the overall pullback plan.
