HOUSTON (AP) _ Police say a tip led to a raid on a suspected cockfighting operation in Houston and the seizure of more than 100 chickens.
At least 15 people were detained as dozens more fled when police arrived at a residence in northeast Houston. Charges were pending Monday.
Police Sgt. Paul George says some spurs, which can be put on chickens used in cockfighting, were recovered, along with boxes used to transport chickens.
Animal control officers Sunday afternoon also seized dogs, horses, turtles and an alligator during the raid.
