A Houston man is arrested by College Station police Tuesday (May 14) after trying to cash forged checks in Bryan and College Station.
A Bryan police spokesman tells WTAW News that an employee of a financial institution confiscated a suspicious check after someone attempted to cash it, then called 9-1-1.
The College Station police arrest report, which also referred to the attempt in Bryan, said the suspect went to a branch location in College Station and tried to cash a $5,800 dollar check.
The CSPD officer who responded learned that the victim told a bank executive that he did not know the suspect.
The man who was arrested, 52 year old Carlos Canty, admitted to the forgery but refused to identify anyone else who was involved.
Canty remains jailed as of May 16 in lieu of a $25,000 dollar bond.
