Houston Driver Charged in Fifth Child Death

HOUSTON (AP) _ A man whose car crashed into a rain-swollen ditch, leaving five children dead, has been charged with a fifth count of intoxication manslaughter.

The Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday that Chanton Jenkins now faces up to 100 years in prison if he is convicted of all five charges.

Jenkins, 32, is accused of being drunk and talking on his cell phone when he lost control of his car.

The crash killed three of Jenkins’ children _ Devin Deshawn Jenkins, 4, Hallie Briann Jenkins, 4, and Karrinton Korneh Jenkins, 1.
