HOUSTON (AP) _ Police think a drive-by shooting on the Texas Southern University campus was gang-related.
Six people were wounded in Wednesday night’s incident. One male student was among the six people who were shot and treated for what were described as serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police that one car drove by and opened fire on the parking lot where a rally was being held to promote community service and voter registration.
Campus police believe the incident resulted from a rivalry between two gangs.
One woman said she was dismayed that an effort to bring a “positive message to the community” would end in violence.
