HOUSTON (AP) _ Officials say an infant girl has died after a pickup truck crashed into a home where she was sleeping in a front room. The driver of the truck has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Charges against David Chacon of Houston were upgraded Monday night after the Harris County medical examiner’s office said 4-month-old Elizabeth Cedillo died at a hospital.
Chacon, 19, originally had been charged with intoxication manslaughter after the crash early Sunday. But the charge was temporarily downgraded while the girl remained on life support.
Authorities say Chacon ran a stop sign before crashing into the home. Police tell the Houston Chronicle that Chacon fled after the crash and was arrested later at his home. His bond has been set at $30,000.
