There will be a runoff election this summer to determine who will fill the remainder of the current term of Texas house district 13, which represents Burleson, Grimes, Washington, and four other counties.
That’s after no one received a majority of votes in Saturday’s election.
Republican Ben Leman received 43 percent of the 15,458 votes.
Leman faces fellow Republican Jill Wolfskill in the runoff. Wolfskill received 37 percent of Saturday’s vote.
Democrat Cecil Webster, Sr. received the remaining 20 percent.
In addition to the runoff for the remainder of the unexpired term, Leman and Wolfskill are in the May 22nd runoff election for the Republican nomination for the next full two year term.
Saturday’s special election was held after the resignation of Leighton Schubert.
