Holiday Lights And Tree Trimming On Display At Texas A&M’s New Leach Teaching Gardens

There is a new holiday display on Texas A&M’s west campus.

The new Leach Teaching Gardens has unveiled “Merry & Bright, Maroon & White”.

The holiday feature includes almost 10,000 lights that will be lit through January 1.

There is also a “Festival of Trees” where 11 hand cut trees lining the G. Rollie White Garden Walk and decorated by members of various A&M student groups are on display through December 22.

Gardens manager Joseph Johnson invites everyone to a “Cookies and Cocoa” open house on Sunday, December 9 from 6 until 9 p.m., which is presented by the COALS Council. Winners of the tree decorating contest will be announced, including a people’s choice award selected by those attending the open house.

The Leach Teaching Gardens, which opened during the summer, is a seven acre area that has 21 themed garden rooms and 250-plus species and varieties of plants, flowers, trees and shrubs.
