Holiday Fire Safety Reminders

The holiday weekend may provide you the opportunity to do some things around the house related to fire safety.

Bart Humphreys of the College Station Fire Department says that includes checking furnace filters and replace them as needed.  He also recommends installing carbon monoxide detectors, particularly residences with fireplaces.

Humphreys says over half of residential fires in College Station takes place in apartments, and the number one cause of residential fires is unattended cooking. With holiday entertaining, Humphreys reminds hosts to supervise what’s happening in your kitchen.

Bart Humphreys visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
