HOA Majority Supports Board Decision to Donate Land for Lick Creek Trail

The College Station City Council was told Thursday night that there is majority support from one homeowners association to donate land to the Lick Creek greenway trail.

Gary Ives of the SpringBrook HOA says while they have the vote and the board has the authority to convey the property to the city, 20 property owners have taken the matter to small claims court.

Ives expects a resolution “as expeditiously as possible” that will address concerns he says is shared by all members of the HOA,  including “privacy, safety and security, flooding, and the preservation of this land as a natural area.”

Ives says he was proud of the voter turnout of over 86.7 percent of the HOA’s 196 members.

Ives says 58.8 percent voted to donate land in the Lick Creek drainage area, while 41.2 percent voted to locate the trail along rights of way bordering Eagle Avenue, Longmire Drive, and Barron Road.
