From the Texas Department of Transportation district office in Bryan:
Beginning Monday morning, November 7, 2016, weather permitting; the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be installing new speed limit signs on the SH 6 main lanes in Brazos County, and the cities of Bryan and College Station.
This will lower the speed limit on over 20 miles of SH 6 to 70 mph from OSR to the College Station south city limit.
The current speed limit on this section of SH 6 is 75 mph and will change to 70 mph.
Local law enforcement agencies have been notified that the change will be occurring on Monday.
Temporary flags will be installed to help remind drivers of the new speed limit.
With most of the x-ramp reconstruction being complete on SH 6, TxDOT is reducing the speed limit according to current operation speeds and conditions in this area.
This work will be performed by TxDOT’s Brazos County Maintenance office.
TxDOT reminds motorists to be alert for the new signage and, as always, to please drive to the conditions, not the posted speed.
