A Bryan man out on parole for attempted murder is accused of leading local law enforcement on a high speed chase.

Brazos County Precinct One Constable Brian Bachmann says he stopped a car driven by 33 year old Jerome Searcy for a traffic violation on Highway 6 at Welcome Lane Thursday afternoon.

Bachmann says because the driver and passenger acted nervous, he called for a K-9 to check the car for illegal items.

The constable says after the dog arrived, Searcy got in his car. Bachmann says he tried to stop the driver but he was dragged for five or six feet before letting go. Then he joined the pursuit into the twin cities before it was called off due to Searcy’s dangerous driving, which approached speeds of 120 mph and Searcy going the wrong way on the Earl Rudder Freeway.

Comments from Constable Brian Bachmann.

During the traffic stop, Searcy told Bachmann where he worked, which was information that the constable passed on to other agencies.

More from Brian Bachmann.

Searcy’s passenger, who was dropped off outside the Bryan Lowe’s store, turned herself in at the College Station Police Department. Bachmann says she was not arrested but because she is a state prison guard she will be under administrative review because of her contact with a former inmate.

Bachmann says there’s the possibility illegal drugs or other contraband was tossed after the pursuit ended.  Anyone with information or in possession of items related to this case can contact Bachmann at 979-695-0030.
