Multiple agencies were involved in a chase last night (THURS) in northern Brazos County that reached speeds of 125 miles an hour.
According to the arrest report from the sheriff’s office, 48 year old Tracey Pemberton of Willis wound up crashing his pickup in Kurten and was caught 30 yards away.
The pursuit began in north Bryan in the area of Tabor Road and Wilcox Lane in response to a report of a suspicious person trying to sell miscellaneous tools to a local businessowner.
Chase speeds then exceeded 100 miles per hour as the vehicles went north on FM 2776 and east on FM 974. The truck made a U-turn on 974 east of Wheelock Hall Road and went west on 974 before turning south on FM 2038 and driving into Kurten. The truck then made a left turn on on Business 21 and continued east on Highway 21 when another U-turn was made and a passenger jumped out of the moving truck. The truck headed west on 21 and Business 21 through Kurten when the truck crashed, followed by the search and capture of the driver.
Pemberton was arrested for evading arrest, violating parole, and three burglaries from San Jacinto County.
The passenger was not arrested.
Joining the sheriff’s office were members of the Bryan police department, DPS, game wardens, and tracking dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
