HEB Recalls Pre-Made Meals

SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ HEB has issued what it calls a “voluntary and precautionary recall” for some of its Asian Ready-to-Eat meals, citing the possibility of undercooked chicken in the meals.

A statement issued Thursday by the San Antonio-based supermarket chain says the recall involves 19 Ready-to-Eat entrees and meals containing chicken and sold in the Grab `N Go section of HEB delis in 40 Texas stores.

A consumer complaint led to the recall, but no illnesses have been reported. Any of the 19 products sold before May 3 is affected and should be returned to HEB for a refund.

Undercooked chicken is potentially contaminated with the salmonella organism that can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Questions can be directed to HEB at 800-432-3113 or 210-938-8357.
