Health For All Receives Donation from Len & Nancy Berry

Health For All, Inc (HFA), a nonprofit free health care clinic in the Brazos Valley received a donation from Len and Nancy Berry on Thursday.

The mayor of College Station and her husband, a distinguished professor at Texas A&M, presented a check for more than $5,000 of clinical equipment and resources to benefit the clinic.

“They obviously have a passion for this community and saw the need and were able to work with us to make sure that we could get some testing equipment and supplies that we desperately needed for our patients,” said Executive Director Liz Dickey.

HFA provided primary and preventative care to more than 1,200 individuals last year. With this gift, Dickey said they are hoping to provide more than 4,000 patient visits in 2015-2016.

“It is donations like this that allow us to keep our doors open,” said Dickey.

Tomorrow, Thursday September 3, 2015, Len and Nancy Berry will present Health For All, Inc (HFA) with a check for more than $5,000 of clinical equipment and resources to benefit the uninsured of the Brazos Valley and the health of our community.

Executive Director, Liz Dickey, says these funds will help hundreds of struggling patients access the quality care many of us take for granted. We will change the lives of patients like the single mom with multiple part time jobs, the young man that was laid off, or the family that has to choose between their medications and their groceries.

Last year, Health For All provided primary and preventative care to more than 1,200 individuals. The clinic served those suffering from more than six chronic conditions to those just needing to know someone cares. The Berry’s gift will allow Health For All to procure equipment and resources to provide even better care for these patients.

This donation will purchase supplies like the microalbumin testing supplies used to test the patients who are diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. Testing for microalbumin is an early indicator of the disease having a negative impact on the kidneys and a warning to both physician and patient to carefully monitor kidney function and encourage better sugar controls. Approximately half of the clinic’s patients have diabetes. Other resources will include computers, surgery accessories, and home blood pressure monitors.

Health For All has ambitious plans to provide more than 4,000 patient visits in 2015-16. For more information on how you or your company can support the clinic, please call 979-774-4176 or visit www.hlth4all.org/volunteers
