Hazardous Waste Event Nets Record Prescription Haul

A record amount of outdated prescription drugs was collected at the recent household hazardous waste event.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency joins the operators of Twin Oaks Landfill twice a year.

Deputy Ed Frank says outdated drugs can be dropped off anytime in the lobby of the sheriff’s office.

More than 1,400 pounds of prescriptions into three SUV’s for transport to Houston.

The drugs will be incinerated by the Drug Enforcement Agency, keeping it out of the landfill and wastewater treatment plants.
