COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M midfielder Mikaela Harvey was tabbed to the 28-player preseason watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Wednesday.
Harvey and Stanford’s Andi Sullivan were the only two sophomores named to the watch list.
Battling through multiple injuries during her freshman campaign, Harvey made 21 appearances, including eight starts in 2014. She logged two assists as a freshman, helping Texas A&M to a 22-3-2 mark, an SEC regular-season title, a league tournament title and the Aggies’ first-ever College Cup appearance.
Harvey has been deeply involved with the United States Soccer Federation in recent years with numerous stints on the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team in 2015, including five caps and four starts.
The list was compiled by the NSCAA Women’s Division I All-America Committee, based on their analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.
Near the end of the regular-season, NCAA Division I coaches that are NSCAA members will vote on their top choices and the lists will be narrowed down to the top 15 semifinalists. From the pool, three finalists will be selected with the winners announced in January.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
