Hans Earns PrepVolleyball.com National Honor; Texas A&M and Austin-Roark Also Garner Attention

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M outside hitter Hollann Hans was named the Power 5 National Player of the Week, and Aggie middle blocker London Austin-Roark was named the Power 5 Freshman of the Week runner-up by PrepVolleyball.com

In addition, Hans is one of 14 players to be named to the website’s list of “others considered” for its Midseason All-America Team, which includes two outside hitters.

Furthermore, Texas A&M, which was unranked in the website’s list of top 64 teams, catapulted to No. 44 in this week’s team rankings after defeating both Auburn and Georgia last week. With the victories, the Aggies are now predicted by PrepVolleyball.com to be an at-large team for the 64-team NCAA tournament.

Last week, Hans, a junior from Corpus Christi, averaged 5.94 points, 4.88 kills, 0.62 aces and 2.50 digs per set and on Monday was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. She hit .444 and took match-high honors in both kills (16) and points (19.0) in the sweep against Auburn. In the thrilling five-set victory at Georgia, Hans recorded her team-leading eighth double-double of the season, posting a team-high 23 kills along with 15 digs. She also had a match-high four aces and added three blocks against the Bulldogs to finish with 28.5 points

For the season, Hans is eighth in the nation and second in the SEC with 0.52 aces per set. She leads the SEC and is 10th in the nation with 5.23 points per set, and she is 17th in the nation and third in the conference with 4.49 kills per set.

Austin-Roark, averaged 1.12 blocks as well as 2.38 kills per set while hitting .421. The Weatherford High School product hit .615 with eight kills in 13 attempts without an error in the sweep against the Tigers. She also tied for match-high honors in blocks with three against Auburn. Austin-Roark, who has started every match and played in all 74 sets this season, posted a match-high six blocks and also added 11 kills while hitting .320 in A&M’s victory at Georgia. It was the fifth time the freshman recorded double-figure kills.

For the season, Austin-Roark leads the A&M starters with 0.79 blocks. She is averaging a team-high 0.96 blocks per set in conference matches only.

The Aggies (12-7, 5-2 SEC) begin a crucial three-match homestand tonight as they play host to Tennessee (14-5, 5-2 SEC) at 6:30 p.m. at Reed Arena. The match is the Aggies’ annual “Dig Pink” match.
