Gunfire Exchange Between A Bryan Police Officer And A Kidnapping Suspect

Bryan police report an exchange of gunfire between an officer and a kidnapping suspect.

The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries and the suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unidentified injuries.

A BPD news release did not disclose the condition of the kidnapping victim.

No names have been released.

The gunfire took place early Saturday morning in Bryan’s historic eastside neighborhood.

The BPD news release says officers responded Saturday at 1:35 a.m. to the 600 block of South Ennis. That is between Heritage Park and the St. Joseph secondary campus.

The gunfire took place after officers found the kidnapping victim and suspect.

The suspect was arrested at an undisclosed location after fleeing the scene.

The BPD news release did not disclose the relationship between the victim and suspect.

On August 31st, 2024, at 0135hrs Officers responded to the 600 block of S. Ennis reference to a reported kidnapping in progress. Once on scene officers located the suspect and victim involved in the kidnapping. During this encounter an officer and the suspect exchanged gunfire. The suspect fled the scene but was located and arrested. The suspect received minor injuries from a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The officer involved in the shooting received minor injuries that were treated on the scene.
