The commandant of the Texas A&M corps of cadets, retired general Joe Ramirez, was the guest speaker at the Bryan/College Station Memorial Day program.
Ramirez, who had a 31 year Army career, called on the audience to share the significance of the holiday, and to never forget the service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country and its freedoms.

He noted since 9/11, less than one percent of the American population has served in the military and overall, less than six percent has ever served.
